Suicidal Tendencies-World Gone Mad ©2016 Suicidal Records
The latest from Suicidal Tendencies is pretty impressive. The album has a good dose of Punk taking the band back to it's roots. The first part of the album spends it's time in that particular genre, but as things progress you also get the metal side that the band embraced in the late 80's. For those who don't know, Dave Lombardo is drumming for the band currently and his speed style hits hard in the band's formula. I haven't really been disappointed with anything the band has done, but feel this is probably my favorite since 'Lights, Camera, Revolution'. A definite solid outing from the band!

Cry of Dawn feat. Göran Edman-Cry of Dawn ©2016 Frontiers Records
Göran Edman has had quite a career to this point. One of his latest ventures is Cry of Dawn which features his great vocal styles and some really great songwriting that has a classic hard rock feel similar to the 80's scene. Lots of melody in all of the songs on this album. Edman still sounds great and has put together a good band of musicians that include Daniel Flores, Michael Palace, and Sören Kronqvist. The album is a pretty consistent and uniform listen from start to end and also has memorable traits that will have you remembering it right away. Pretty solid melodic hard rock! Recommended!

Eden's Curse-Cardinal ©2016 AFM Records
Been able to spend some time with the latest from melodic metallers Eden's Curse and it is quite good. The band is tight, has quite a bit of melody, but can also offer up some decent intensity as well. I haven't checked out much from this band, but really enjoyed this release. "Find My Way' is a favorite as I love the chorus and melodic feel. I also love 'Kingdom of Solitude' as it is a bit different than other stuff and has some decent shredding. The band have a recent lyric video up for 'The Great Pretender' which might give you another idea of the sound of this album. It's complete and it rocks!

Defiant-Time Isn't Healing ©2016 Ferrum Records
If you are looking for a tight power metal record, this one might be for you. The band hails from the Ukraine and in a lot of ways packs the same punch as some of the more known power metal bands out of Europe such as Gamma Ray or Rage. The band can deliver not only a solid heavy sound, but can also go to the other end of the spectrum to offer some melody as well. Musically, I feel the band comes across with good chemistry and deliver a very tight batch of metal tunes. This is the bands second offering to date and with the chops they have, should help cement their position in the metal community!

Tower-Tower ©2016 The End Records
Upon a first listen to New York based Tower, it was obvious how retro this band sounds. Right from the get go too. The title track 'Tower' was like a heavy dose of deja vu. I cut my teeth on sounds very similar to this in the early 80's. It's the tone of the album and the structure of the songs quite honestly. I have been trying to think of anyone else in this day and age pegging this sound and I really can't. There are bands that are similar to early British metal, but this is not quite that either. It's raw, very consistent, and heavily nostalgic in about every way. Oh, and it comes highly recommended.
