Houston-IV ©2021 Frontiers Records
This was a great signing by Frontiers Records. Houston is a great fit with the other melodic hard rock acts on their roster. Been a big fan of this band for a bit now. Their songwriting is always instantly memorable and the quality of each song and album has been really good. If you are at all familiar with this band, you'll remember how they sometimes do cover style albums. They also release their own studio material which is what this is. The album feels very even throughout and as mentioned is pretty memorable right out of the gates. Apparently they are signed to a multi album deal. We'll look forward to hearing more from them in the future. Ricky Delin who worked with the band earlier is back in production duties. There has been good results in the past and this record is another great listen due the band and Delin and that chemistry. Another essential!

Carl Sentance-Electric Eye ©2021 Drakkar Entertainment
'Electric Eye' is the new solo studio album and the fourth overall from current Nazareth frontman Carl Sentance. Listeners can expect a really good batch of songs. There is some good atmosphere and rich sounding tones along with Sentance's great vocal work. There is a catchy nature to a lot of the songs here and some of them even lean to the heavier side of the spectrum. One thing that you come away with while listening to this album as well as other albums that Carl is part of, he puts a lot of effort into everything. The appeal to the sound of this album would definitely be to any rock fan. There is plenty here to enjoy for everyone's different tastes. I like the groove displayed on some of the tracks such as 'Nervous Breakdown' and also like the huge chorus like the song 'Alright' which is also a video track via YouTube. Very good solo album!

Nestor-Kids In A Ghost Town ©2021 Black Diamond Music
I stumbled into this band while bouncing around YouTube a couple of months or so ago. Believe me when I say this, this one is a must have! The band have a mid to late 80's sound to them and the songs are absolutely amazing. They do have a few up on YouTube to check out at this point. The band have offered the elements that made 80's rock so great. Guitar riffs, solos, vocals, just about everything. I didn't really find any weakness with this album. Songs are very melodic and infectious, but you also get good moments of flash. The band can excel in both areas. You have plenty of rockers and some good melodic songs as well like 'Tomorrow' which features Samantha Fox. This album is a serious contender in melodic rock for album of the year in my opinion. Do your self a favor and check them out. For those that want it, I got mine through Amazon. Top notch!

Disbeliever-Archetype ©2021 Revalve Records
As I peruse my promotional offerings, one genre that I always take an interest in is the gothic metal types. I wasn't familiar with Disbeliever before this promo. This is the band's third release and after a few minor changes in the personnel of the band, things are moving right along. In the gothic sound you get both a thick heavy guitar sound and also some rich atmospheric depth filling the whole thing out. This band does a good job with that type of sound. I kept feeling like they reminded me a little bit of Type O Negative in places. Don't take that comment as the record is a Type O clone because it isn't. I just hear things here and there that make me think that direction. Songwriting is pretty good across the board. The songs tend to be interesting and can be revisited time and time again with out the listener feeling bored. Gothic metal fans, this one is pretty good!

Kryptos-Force Of Danger ©2021 AFM Records
'Force Of Danger' is the sixth album by Indian heavy metallers Kryptos. Heavily influenced by the heavier sounds of the 80's, this band has been building a decent following by getting out on the road with other great metal acts such as Death Angel, Exodus, etc. Also, they release pretty cool records and this new one is consistent with expectations once again. Production has a retro feel to it in my opinion. Songs are also structured in the typical metal formula. With this record I would probably lean towards a classic power metal sound. Songs can hit a more frenzied tempo, but they fit more into a classic metal sound. These songs will translate great to the stage as there is a fairly raw feel to them. For fans who search out more of that 80's sound in a current market, Kryptos is always a good bet. Great old school sounding record!
